Makaha Valley offers a wide range of outdoor activities that everyone can enjoy from the very beginner level to the most advanced, technical level. These activities include snorkeling, surfing, scuba diving, boogie boarding, hiking, golf and many more activities. Here is a list of places to enjoy.
Yokohama Bay and Ka'ena Point - swimming and hiking. If you choose to hike here, please take plenty of water, food, and sunscreen. It is a 5 mile hike round trip and the earlier you start, the better (7 am is an ideal start time).
Makaha Beach - swimming, surfing, and boogie boarding. Please take plenty of water and sunscreen.
Pu'u O Hulu (Pink Pillbox) hike in Mai'li is an advanced hike. This is a 1.5 mile roundtrip hike with a 615 foot elevation gain. Take plenty of water and food for this hike.
Pokai Bay has a few different beaches for all ages to swim, snorkel, and surf in. The 604 Beach House is a great place to grab a bite to eat when you get hungry.
Depot Beach Park, Electric Beach, Makana Beach, Laukinui Beach and several other beaches line the Waianae Valley for you to enjoy your beach and ocean time.
Makaha Valley Country Club is where you can enjoy spectacular views as you play a round of golf.
While you are snorkeling, you will find yourself swimming near Hawaiian Sea Turtles also called Honu. Please stay at least 10 feet from the sea turtles.
You may also encounter Hawaiian Monk Seals while visiting Hawaii as well. Monk seals are endangered and there only about 1,500 left in the Hawaiian Islands. Please stay at least 50 feet from the monk seals and do not go near them (they can be aggressive and mean).
The Farmer's Market at the Waianae Mall is every Saturday m0rning from 8 am to 12 pm. Please make sure you have cash with you, not all vendors accept credit cards.
There are several local dining options available within a 10 to 15 minute drive from Makaha Surfside. Listed below are some great restaurants to check out -
Countryside cafe - Breakfast and lunch and is open from 7 am to 1 pm daily.
The Beach House by 604 offers lunch and dinner during the week start at 11 am until 10 pm. On the weekends they offer brunch starting at 10 am.
Lanterns - Lunch and dinner options and are open at 12 pm and closes at 9 pm Sunday thru Thursday and closes at 10 pm on Friday's and Saturday's.
Tastbuds - Lunch and dinner options and are open from 11 am to 5 pm Tuesday thru Friday and 11 am to 6 pm Saturday and Sunday. They are closed on Monday's.
Pokai Bay Restaurant - is open daily from 9:30 am to 5 pm.
Lilkoi Lounge (Makaha Valley Country Club) - Monday thru Friday, they are open from 8 am to 5 pm. Saturday and Sunday they are open from 7 am to 5 pm. Great place to start your morning with some breakfast then do a round of golf.
